POWERFLUSHING

A Powerflush enhances the longevity of your system, decreases your expenses, and mitigates the likelihood of malfunctions.

  • Accelerates the heating process in your home and minimizes energy wastage.
  • Reduce system deterioration and safeguard your boiler.

Reasons you might require a Powerflush:

Addressing hidden heating issues:

  • Sludge, rust, and limescale lead to leaks and blocked pipes, impacting efficiency. The presence of dirty water within your pipes contributes to heating complications and diminishes overall efficiency.

Resolving cold spots on radiators:

  • Build up of sludge results in cold spots on radiators, requiring them to exert more effort to heat a room, thus increasing energy wastage.

Preventing boiler breakdowns:

  • Blockages in the boiler and pump precipitate breakdowns, with 87% of such failures attributed to the presence of contaminated water within the heating system.

Explanation of how a Powerflush operates:

Preparation stage:

  • Prior to a Powerflush, the presence of sludge in your radiators creates cold spots, impeding effective heat distribution.

During the Powerflush procedure:

  • Utilizing specialized equipment and a three-step chemical process, we systematically cleanse your boiler, pipes, and radiators, replacing the contaminated sludge with clean water.

Post-Powerflush:

  • Following the completion of the Powerflush, with the removal of sludge from your pipes, radiators, and boiler, your heating system is expected to operate significantly more efficiently.

To determine if a Powerflush is necessary, follow these steps:

Check for cold spots on radiators:

  • Feel the bottom of your radiators. If they are cooler at the bottom compared to the top, it suggests a potential blockage with sludge inside. A Powerflush can eliminate the sludge, improving radiator efficiency and heat distribution.

Monitor heating performance:

  • If your heating or hot water takes longer to reach desired temperatures or feels less hot than usual, it could indicate a blockage in your system.

Assess boiler condition:

  • An old or unserviced boiler may operate inefficiently or experience blockages. A qualified gas engineer can verify this during an Annual Boiler Service.

Consider pipework and radiator age:

  • Aging pipework or radiators may be rusting, leading to sludge buildup in the heating system. Removal of sludge is crucial, especially with a new boiler, to prevent efficiency issues and potential breakdowns.

By following these steps and consulting with a qualified gas engineer, you can determine if a Powerflush is necessary to optimize your heating system's performance and longevity.

How long does a Powerflush take?

The majority of our Powerflush appointments are scheduled for a full day, lasting approximately eight hours. Our engineers will provide specific details as they prepare your quote. The duration of the Powerflush hinges on factors such as the size of your residence, the number of radiators installed, and the level of blockage or contamination present in your heating system.

Can my system be Powerflushed?

e will schedule an engineer to assess the suitability of your heating system for a Powerflush. However, please note that the following systems are not compatible with Powerflushing:

  1. Electrical heating systems
  2. Radiators with twin-entry valves
  3. Pipes with a diameter less than 15mm

How much does a Powerflush cost and what does it cover?

The cost is determined by the size and quantity of radiators in your home. Contact us for a no-obligation quote. A typical 2-3 bedroom house will cost between £600-700.

What's included in a Powerflush:

  • Individual isolation and flushing of each radiator
  • Comprehensive system drain-down, desludging, and addition of a chemical inhibitor to prevent future buildup
  • Completion of fixed-price work by our skilled engineer
